 Dr. Sands was born and raised on the island of Eleuthera. She completed her primary studies at the formerly known Spanish Wells all Age School. After high school, Dr. Sands moved to the United States in order pursue higher education. She first attended Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach FL, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry. She then attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis TN, where she obtained her Doctorate in Optometry. Before completing her studies, Dr. Sands interned at Pacific View Eye Care in Encinitas, CA where she gained experience in specialty contact lens fitting, as well as, the Veterans Clinic in Daytona Beach FL, where she advance her skills in ocular disease care. Upon graduation, Dr. Sands was recognized for excellence in ocular disease management, which she still holds a passion for to this day. Before returning to the Bahamas, Dr. Sands was a location manager for a multi-location practice in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Sands is now excited to have returned to her home in the Bahamas to help manage and promote eye wellness among her fellow Bahamians.
